PANGORGE 2021 -ONWARD

A low light slowly warms the morning darkness. High above the canyon on a buttress of rock, protruding like a bird’s beak and reaching out over the abyss, two rivers creep deep below. The bottom is imperceptible as one layer alights the other and slowly creeps the opposite way boldly declaring its polarity over the other. Inspiration to create and move continues to flow and thus we go.

Emergent from the crowded slew of rejected applications and shattered dreams, seventeen participants found themselves in the moment just before dawn on the third Saturday in November in the year 2021 ready as they would ever be to set off on whatever adventure awaited them. The open end draws them in. The athletes who need this will find it. Year eight and yet the journey has only begun. Cult classic by year 2023… Likely story.

New comer, classy athlete, and visionary Luke Swab swept the course and the field with a stunning show of strategy and flawless execution. All-time Pangorge veteran and forever my hero, Joe Minton put up one hell of a day, coming in with a strong second place finish. The podium would not be complete without one Taft Sibley. I’d like to point out that Taft spent the same time on the course as one race creator and yet placed three spots ahead! This is why I love Pangorge. Not all brains, not all brawn, but all fun. Good job to everyone and always many thanks to Susanna for holding the shit together all the time. Course selection is key! Consistent persistence! Go study!
